  • RYKESTRASSE 53,
    This reform synagogue, built in 1903, had 2,000 seats and was one of the largest in Europe. Later it was the home of the Ahava orphanage for immigrants from Russia and Eastern Europe. Due to its position in a courtyard, Nazi thugs hesitated to burn it during program on November 9, 1938 out of fear the fire would spread. Currently the structure is under renovation, but there are Friday night and Saturday morning services every Shabbat in the building facing the street.
  • JOACHIMSTALER STR. 13,
    Berlin´s central orthodox synagogue in the heart of West Berlin with daily services and a mikva. This building was also built in 1903 and used by the Jewish Lodge B´nei B´rith. The building was used during the Nazi period as the home of the Joseph Lehmann school of the Reform Community, which prepared its students for emigration around the world. www.jg-berlin.org

    Yeshiva Beit Zion, the only yeshiva in Germany, has approximately 40 students, and there are Shacharit, Minchah and Maariv services daily. www.yeshiva.de
  • ORANIENBURGER STRASSE 29,
    In 1866 the New Synagogue, of Berlin´s pioneer reform community, was inaugurated with over 3000 seats in the presence of the nation´s elite. The building is an architectural gem and it survived Crystallnacht only to be destroyed during an Allied bombing raid, later rebuilt by the East German government in the 80´s. Today there is a small egalitarian service on Shabbat. www.or-synagoge.de
  • Chabad Lubawitsch Berlin,
    one of the most popular places of the Berlin Jewish community with Shabbat services oftentimes exceeding 200 individuals, the Chabad House in Berlin is a modern newly built house. www.chabadberlin.de
  • FRAENKELUFER 10-16,
    The original synagogue was built between 1913–1916 by Alexander Beer, an architect of many Jewish Community buildings, and had 2,000 seats. The original main building was burned out on Crystallnacht and later destroyed by bombs. In 1959, the building was re–inaugurated and today there are conservative services held on Shabbat.

    this award winning German bakery that features fresh–baked kosher products has two locations. If you are in Prenzlauer Berg, a must–see neighborhood in the east, check out the store on the Kastanienallee.
  • Café Stoley, Laubacher Str. 42
